INCM coins nominated for the Coin Of The Year Awards

October 30, 2014

Two Portuguese coins issued in 2013, the commemorative circulation coin marking the 250th anniversary of the Clérigos Tower and a commemorative collector coin to mark 150 years since the founding of the Red Cross, have been nominated for the 2015 Coin of the Year awards in the categories of Best Bi-metallic Coin and Most Inspirational Coin, respectively.

The coins that have been submitted were selected by a panel made up of authors, editors, numismatists and members of the American Association of Numismatists and the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee, which met on the 3rd of October to evaluate hundreds of coins received from all over the world.

The nominated coins will now be evaluated by an international panel of 80 judges, made up of specialists, journalists and representatives of mints and museums, who will decide on the winning coins in each of the competition’s 10 categories. They will also pick the best coin of the year from among these winners.

The Coin of the Year awards showcase the best work done around in the world in terms of subject matter, design and coin marketing. Prizes will be awarded by Krause Publications at the World Money Fair in Berlin, in January 2015.
