Coin commemorating 40 years since the "Carnation Revolution" presented to Parliament

The circulation coin commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Carnation Revolution was presented to Parliament, at the Citizen's Welcome Centre, on the 23rd of April.

This presentation was presided over by Maria Assunção Esteves, President of Parliament, a ceremony that also saw the participation of António Osório, The Chairman of the INCM's Board of Directors, Colonel Vasco Lourenço, president of the 25th of April Association, and the coin's creator, sculptor José Teixeira.

The national side of the coin, alluding to the 40th Anniversary of the "Carnation Revolution" shows a stylized carnation on which the artist has inscribed the legend "25 de Abril" (25th of April), building a bridge between the two regimes. The letter "R" in the centre foreground represents the first letter of the word "Revolution".

With a face value of 2 Euros, the release of this coin is limited to 10,000 copies with a proof (numismatical proof) finishing and 10,000 copies with a BU (brilliant uncirculated) finishing, presented in illustrated boxes. There are also 500,000 copies with a normal finishing.
