The book entitled Governação de Proximidade - As Juntas de Freguesia de Lisboa by Luísa Schmidt, João Seixas and Alexandra Baixinho, was presented at the Biblioteca da Imprensa Nacional yesterday.
António Costa, President of the Lisbon City Council and Professor Teresa Barata Salgueiro of Lisbon Universitys Instituto de Geografia e Ordenamento do Território (Institute of Geography and Land Planning), were responsible for presenting the work, whilst the authors and Rui Carp, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the INCM also participated.
The book includes a study of the scales and processes of proximity socio-political action in the city of Lisbons governance, providing, according to its authors, a key basis for better understanding the demands of proximity governance in a contemporary city, serving as well as a reading and information guide for civil parishioners on their rights, inviting them to also get more and better involved.
