Visit to INCM by the Chairman of the China Observatory

September 9, 2014

The Chairman of the China Observatory, Professor Rui D'Ávila Lourido, visited the INCM headquarters to publicise the most recent activities of this association. Its activities include multi-disciplinary studies on knowledge of China and its age-old culture and it has partners at a range of Portuguese and Chinese universities (Macau, Shanghai and Beijing), as well as a branch in Salvador de Baía.

During this visit he was welcomed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Rui Carp, who has invited him to the opening session of a conference entitled Portugal-China: 35 years of Cooperation and Future Potential, to be held in Lisbon and Cascais on the 8th and 9th of October.

To mark the occasion, Professor Lourido offered Rui Carp and artistic medal (biombo) created by Raquel Rita and produced by INCM. This is yet another piece of unequivocal proof of the high levels of quality and creativity of medals made by INCM.

Considering his frequent relationships with the academic and scientific communities in the People's Republic of China, the Chairman of the China Observatory expressed his willingness to promote INCM's merits and advantages in that country, which has so many cultural and economic links with Portugal.
