Presentation of the coin featuring the Elvas Fortifications

The commemorative collector coin featuring the Elvas Fortifications, which forms part of the series dedicated to UNESCO World Heritage sites in Portugal, was presented at the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Elvas (Elvas Contemporary Art Museum) on the 9th of January.

The presentation ceremony was attended by Nuno Mocinha and Elsa Grilo, the President and Vice-President of Elvas Municipality, respectively, by Rodrigo Brum, member of the Board of Directors of INCM and also by Nuno Caetano, the creator of the coin.

This coin, with a face value of 2.50 euro, shows on its obverse the Porta do Dragão (Dragon's Gate) of the Forte da Graça (Graça Fort), and on its reverse a plan representation of the Elvas fortifications. Its issue is limited to 2,500 copies in silver with proof finishing, and 100,000 copies in cupronickel with normal finishing.
