INCM coin nominated for the Coin of the Year Awards 2013

The coin to commemorate the XXV anniversary of Portugal and Spain joining the European Union (AG proof), created by the sculptor João Duarte, is among those nominated for the Coin of the Year Awards 2013, the aim of which is to recognise the best work being done in the world in terms of coin design, subject matter and marketing.
The nominated coins were issued in 2011 and selected by a panel made up of authors, editors, numismatists and members of the American Numismatic Association, who met on the 12th of October to evaluate hundreds of coins received from all over the world.
The coins that have been submitted will now be evaluated by an international panel, made up of various specialists, journalists and representatives of mints and museums, who will decide which of them will be awarded first places in the competition’s various categories, and which will become the best coin of the year.
The prizes will be awarded during a ceremony that will be held at the World Money Fair in Berlin, during the first week of February 2013.
